wedmore arts festival

Well, Wedmore Festival is now over and the village has quietened down a little - but not a lot! There was plenty going on between 6 and 15 July including music of all sorts - opera, jazz, a concert of summer songs, organ and piano recitals and, to round it off a traditional Ceilidh in the village hall. There was also poetry, drama, comedy, four fascinating and very different talks and a range of static exhibitions. Plenty for everyone in other words, and reckoned to be a runaway success. The picture on the left shows the village in 'Festival colours'. After all, it provided a great chance to paint the town red! Not sure what dates it will happen next year - but watch this space. After all, there's not going to be a Glastonbury and we are just up the road...

But please don't think that means our little corner of Somerset has now gone to sleep. Far from it. Wedmore Harvest Home is on Friday 18 August; Theale Flower Show is on Saturday 2 September and Wedmore Real Ale Festival is from 15 - 17 September.  In October we have Wells Festival of Literature which this year promises to be bigger and better than ever - it's their Silver Anniversary! And then in November it's Carnival fortnight.

Wedmore is less than two miles from Mowbarton so you can always retreat to the peace and quiet of our own little hamlet if it all gets too much.
