Summer 2018

A really busy summer in all respects! Almost too busy... Both the Barn and the Shepherd's Hut have been pretty much full for the whole season and I think (hope!) that our guests have had a good time. Certainly the weather has been almost exclusively kind. As well as guests in the Hut and Barn, we have also entertained quite a few friends and family at home which has given us a very welcome chance to act as holiday-makers here ourselves. We visited WesthayHauser and Wirth, the Battle of Sedgemoor site, Berrow MumpWells Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace - and of course climbed Glastonbury Tor and enjoyed the splendid views (although it would be helpful if people did NOT use the direction map as a seat!), After the climb we tucked into a fabulous Glastonbury tea at the Abbey Tea Rooms. Definitely definitely worth a visit.

In between these bouts of merry-making we have been working on the vineyard and it looks as though all the hard work (thank you also to Adrian!) has paid off. Our first year we produced 220 bottles, last year 1400 and this year the signs are that the numbers will soar again. Yet still not a drop has passed my lips. Projected time of opening the first bottle of Mowbarton sparkling looks as though it will be between May and August 2019. An ideal time to celebrate.
