Mowbarton Shepherd's Hut offers beautifully compact self-catering accommodation for two in a delightful setting. Built by Blackdown Shepherd Huts to a traditional design, it combines luxurious comfort with the rural idyll. Glamping at its finest!
There's seating and a table for four which cunningly converts into a cosy double bed: 'the most comfortable we've ever slept in' according to one set of guests! The Hut is fully double-glazed and insulated and stays wonderfully warm thanks to an efficient little log-burning stove. A two-ringed hob, sink and small fridge complete the living area, and a proper loo, hand basin and ultra-modern shower cubicle complete the picture.
Set in almost two acres, the Shepherd's Hut shares its seclusion with the vineyard shed, home to tractor and other wine-growing equipment. Apart from the odd bustle as the tractor goes in or out, all the activity on the site is from wildlife. To the east of the Hut is Teasel Meadow, a sloping field with a table and chairs in the top corner - perfect for enjoying the views and watching the sun go down. Buzzards, sparrowhawks, woodpeckers and goldfinches are always around at Mowbarton, and in the spring we often hear cuckoos. Weasels have also been spotted. So no pets allowed; sorry!
